Think about applying for a Leadership Fellowship

Over the past four years almost 50 NSW principals have received a Leadership Fellowship Award. These principals, or groups of principals, have undertaken research in aspects of school leadership and have travelled to countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, Finland, Italy and Sweden.

The value of the fellowship is $5,000 and recipients are eligible for up to 20 days or four weeks special leave. Recipients of Leadership Fellowships 2007–2008 will conduct their research in 2008 and complete a report of approximately 3,000 words. Recipients must remain an employee of the Department for two years after completing the Fellowship. Principals interested in applying for a Leadership Fellowship Award should submit an Expression of Interest to the Executive Officer by Monday 30 April 2007. An Expression of Interest Form and further information about the Fellowships are available on the Department’s website at https://www.det.nsw.edu.au/awards/lf.htm or from the Executive Officer contactable on (02) 9266 8903 or awards@det.nsw.edu.au.

    Pre-Election Information

With a NSW election coming up in March, there will clearly be a focus on education as an enterprise which currently consumes 25% of the NSW State Budget.

Over the years, there have been several documents issued which outline the protocols and procedures to be followed when dealing with contentious issue in schools or when working out the appropriate way to manage visits of various members of parliament or candidates for election.

The following links will take you to copies of these documents.  Please have a look at these and if there is a need prior to the election to check any of the guidelines, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

    The documents available are :

The need to retain balance between local issues and community priorities and the focus of a statewide system committed to improving outcomes for all groups is always a challenge.  If you have any emergent issues which you would like to have a chat about, please don’t hesistate to get in touch.
